Turtle-inspired Alien toys on the way from NECA

By Alex Wiggan

Exciting news folks – especially if you’re a fan of both the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Aliens – as NECA has a very exciting release on the way.

Remember that classic episode of the ‘80s Turtle ‘toon titled, ‘The Case of the Killer Pizzas’? You know the one – it had a bunch of yellow aliens in the story, which bore a striking resemblance to the Xenomorphs from the Alien films?

Well, NECA – makers of fine Alien(s) toys – is to release a special edition Alien toy, inspired by that fan-favourite Turtles episode!  The limited edition figure – dubbed the Sewer Mutation Warrior Alien – will be available to Alien Club members and those who attend this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

In a statement on NECA’s Facebook page, reads:

“Deep in space, something is happening at a remote Weyland-Yutani scientific outpost! The terrible coincidence of a power outage and a deep space radiation has created a new Xenomorph… one that’s right at home in the pipes and tubes of the station’s sub-levels. The Sewer Mutation Warrior Alien stands over 9″ tall and features over 30 points of articulation and a bendable tail.

“Limited edition of 3,000

“Price: $30

“This figure WILL be available to Alien Club members and at our booth at SDCC. It will NOT be available during the online presale that starts on 6/20.”

To accompany the statement, NECA also released images of the Sewer Mutation Warrior Alien, which you can see here.

As you’ll notice, the Alien figure is in-keeping with the look and style of NECA’s regular Alien line, however it adopts the colour scheme of the killer pizza aliens. It’s a subtle design, but one that works quite well if you get the reference.

So, what do you think?

As big fans of the original Turtles cartoon, as well as the Alien series, we’re pleased as punch that NECA has combined the two properties for this special limited edition release. Sure, it’s more Xenomorph than killer pizza alien, but it’s fun to see NECA combining the two fan-favourite lines for a one-off exclusive.

Plus, we never (ever) expected to see an ‘official’ connection made between the Alien films and the killer pizza aliens.

Well done, NECA!

Now who do we need to speak to about getting a Baxter Stockman/Seth Brundle mash-up figure?
