Superman: On this day – December 25th

This year, iconic comic book character, Superman celebrates two titanic anniversaries. The first is the 40th anniversary of Superman: The Movie (1978) and the second is the 80th anniversary of the first appearance of Superman (1938). Both are HUGE events.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Honcho-SFX blog is presenting a different Superman fact a day!

Yep, 365 facts!

Taking the years 1938 through to 2018, each day the Honcho-SFX blog will serve up a little slice of Superman. So, that’s one fact about Superman or something inspired by Superman, each day, for an entire year covering eight decades of the Man of Steel.

And here’s today’s slice of Superman…

December 25th – Merry Christmas! On this day in 1943, the thirteenth Superman Fleischer Studios short is released in cinemas. The short, titled ‘Destruction, Inc’ is the thirteenth instalment in a series of 17 animated shorts from Fleischer Studios/Famous Studios. The shorts are regarded by fans and animation experts as highly influential pieces of animation.
