Superman: On this day – August 31st

This year, iconic comic book character, Superman celebrates two titanic anniversaries. The first is the 40th anniversary of Superman: The Movie (1978) and the second is the 80th anniversary of the first appearance of Superman (1938). Both are HUGE events.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Honcho-SFX blog is presenting a different Superman fact a day!

Yep, 365 facts!

Taking the years 1938 through to 2018, each day the Honcho-SFX blog will serve up a little slice of Superman. So, that’s one fact about Superman or something inspired by Superman, each day, for an entire year covering eight decades of the Man of Steel.

And here’s today’s slice of Superman…

August 31st – On this day in 2011, DC Comics published Justice League issue #1, ushering in a new era of DC stories under the banner heading of ‘The New 52’. The Comixology preview reads: “Comics superstars Geoff Johns and Jim Lee make history! In a universe where super heroes are strange and new, Batman has discovered a dark evil that requires him to unite the World Greatest Heroes!”
