Goosebumps sequel casts its leads

By Alex Wiggan

The forthcoming Goosebumps (2015) sequel has cast its leads.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures has signed four young actors to be the stars of the movie: Madison Iseman, Ben O’Brien, Caleel Harris and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Iseman most recently appeared in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), while horror fans will know Taylor from his role of Ben in ‘It’ (2017).

Goosebumps 2 is being developed by Ari Sandel, with Neal H. Moritz and Deborah Forte on producer duties. The film is a sequel to the 2015 family movie, which starred Jack Black as horror author, R.L. Stine, but it is unclear just how closely this film will link up with the original.

Let me explain.

For a while, Goosebumps 2 was running under the title of Goosebumps: Horror Land, with Jack Black returning to the series. However, at least two different scripts have been attached to this project, one with Jack Black and one without.

Black is believed to be attached to this version of Goosebumps, but not as author R.L. Stine. The actor is reportedly providing voiceover duties only this time around; reprising the role of Slappy the dummy.

Whatever the title of the movie ends up being, Goosebumps 2 is scheduled for release later this year.
