Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie in the works

By Alex Wiggan

A movie based on ‘90s Nickelodeon show Are You Afraid of the Dark? is in the works.

According to Variety, Paramount Players – a new division of Paramount Pictures – is interested in developing the film, with ‘It’ screenwriter, Gary Dauberman overseeing the script.

Dauberman will also produce the movie, alongside Matt Kaplan.

Revolving around the Midnight Society, a group of kids who meet up late at night to tell ghost stories, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a popular children’s TV show during the 1990s.  The series – created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel – ran for seven seasons, ran for a total of 91 episodes and aired regularly on Nickelodeon.
