Adam West and Burt Ward return to Batman

By Alex Wiggan

A little while back we heard rumblings that former Batman and Robin stars, Adam West and Burt Ward were working on something that would see them reunite for a Batman-related project. News on the project had been pretty sparse to say the least, leaving us both intrigued and excited.

Well, that was until now.

The West/Ward project is none other than an animated Batman movie, inspired by the ‘60s TV show!

Holy awesome news, Batman!

According to DC Comics’ official Instagram account, “The Caped Crusader is returning to his 1960s television roots in a new animated feature film, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.”

The new movie – which will be released on Blu-Ray and digital formats – will feature the vocal talents of West (Batman) and Ward (Robin), as well as Julie Newmar, who will be reprising her role as Catwoman. And if that’s not enough, expect an appearance from the Riddler, Joker and Penguin too.

And possibly some space-bound action. Seriously, we’re not joking here.

Batman Return of the Caped Crusader Batman & Robin

The digital release of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will arrive on October 11th, with the Blu-Ray hitting shelves on November 1st. There’s no word just yet on a UK release date, but we’d bet our last Bat-dollar that the movie will arrive in Blighty shortly after.

So on a scale of one to ten, how excited are you?

As fans of the ’60s Batman show we don’t mind telling you that our excitement level is pretty much off the scale right now. We just hope that Aunt Harriet and Chief O’Hara make guest appearances somewhere in the movie. And King Tut. Surely at least one Batman movie has to have King Tut in it?

Either way, we don’t have long to wait.

Bat’s all folks!
